Bled

Very different tours, partly of cultural, partly of natural interest. Suitable for cyclists of all ranges.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO BLED / RIBNO.

main attractions: nice alpine village, 6km from Bled town centre on the edge of a large forest.
we liked: excellent hotel, offering other sports possibilities.

DAY 2: BLED-SIGHTSEEING.

tour goes around lake Bled, flat.&15 km
main attractions: town of Bled with beautiful lake, island with Virgin Mary church and castle on 100 m rock above the town.

DAY 3: BLED-BODEŠČE-KROPA-BREZJE.

tour goes alongside Jelovica high-plateau and Sava River,&35 km some hills.
main attractions: old smithies' village of Kropa with a museum, Brezje-basilica of Virgin Mary.

DAY 4: BLED-RADOVLJICA-BEGUNJE.

easy route, completely flat.&30 km
main attractions: Radovljica-beekepers' museum, Begunje-hometown of famous Slavko Avsenik / Oberkrainer band, WW2 museum and ruins of Kamen castle. Vrba-birthplace of many Slovene poets and writers.
we liked: food in the restaurant next to museum in Radovljica.

DAY 5: BLED-GORJE.

one climb of 150m.&20 km
main attractions: Pokljuka cave-walk through a very old forest, Vintgar gorge- 1,6 km long canyon of Radovna river.

DAY 6: BLED-BOHINJ.

flat, alongside Sava Bohinjka river.&60 km
main attractions: Bohinj lake, Triglav national park and quiet alpine villages.

DAY 7: BLED-KRMA.

first through Radovna valley to the foot of Triglav mountain,&50 km lightly upwards.
main attractions: Triglav national park, very peaceful area.
we liked: awesome mountain scenery on the end of Krma valley.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM BLED.
